HEALTH AND SAFETY
The Little Town Children School also offers services for the health and safety of the students. This is intended to ensure that every student has good physical health which is needed for the learning process as well as providing a safe environment where children can learn without being in danger or getting harmed. Students especially in kindergarten are often in the phase of growing to be independent in doing tasks and playing in groups with other peers, the school believes that it is important to provide ways and settings that they need to stay safe. With this, the school will focus on creating awareness and teaching the students how to be healthy and safe. This includes different teaching activities such as crossing the street, recognizing an emergency and calling for help, avoiding strangers, playing safe outdoors, what to do with scars and nosebleeds, and fire drills.
The health and safety program can be integrated with the subjects being taught and drills/activities will also be held once every 2 weeks. It will be facilitated mainly by the teachers and will be supported by other school staff. Parents and guardians are also encouraged to participate to gain information and tips on how to make their child’s environment safer for learning. In terms of students' health, meals that will be prepared at the school will be based on the dietary guidelines for children 4 to 8 years old whereas they will consist of a variety of healthy foods (fruit, vegetables, dairy, grains, lean meats, eggs, nuts, seeds, and legumes). The school will also provide clean and drinkable water available for all students as drinking water is an essential part of growing a healthy body and mind. A school clinic will also be available to provide immediate care for students who are ill or injured. The clinic will also be a place for needed checkups or health guidance for both students and school staff. Lastly, the school made sure that the equipment has no sharp edges and loose parts as well as the toys/materials used in learning are age-appropriate for the students.
